It is safe to say that the S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of the most popular and successful factions in the modern era of professional wrestling. The faction consisted of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Jon Moxley (formerly known as Dean Ambrose). All three members of the faction have captured the Tag Team, United States, Intercontinental, and WWE World Heavyweight Championships.

Recently, Rollins and Roman Reigns lost their respective championships at the WrestleMania 40 Premium Live Event. Jon Moxley on the other hand, managed to capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Tetsuya Naito at the NJPW Windy City Riot.

While speaking to Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated’s FanNation, Jon Moxley opened up about the time he spent with the S.H.I.E.L.D. brothers.

“What they’ve done, it’s a really cool thing,” said Jon Moxley, speaking about Reigns and Rollins. “We were nobodies. We came in with attitudes, and we pretty much said, ‘We’re coming in, f— you, and we’re taking this sh– over.’ The more time that passes, the more it becomes evident that we did exactly what we said we were going to do.”

During the main event on Night two of WrestleMania 40, when Roman Reigns was wrestling Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Universal Championship. Mid-way through the match, the S.H.I.E.L.D. theme music hit and for a small moment fans thought Moxley might be showing up but it was Seth Rollins. Moxley shared that he was in Japan taking a nap.

“I was asleep in Japan when that was going on. When I woke up, I had these messages saying, ‘I thought you were coming out!’ And I was like, ‘Coming out where?’ It’s cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep.”

Moxley successfully defended his IWGP title against Hobbs on Dynamite.
